Frequently Asked Questions

Forum References FAQ's Quiz Lecture Introduction Q: Does a Reminder Card need to be fancy or professional looking in order to be effective?

A: NO, you don't have to be a graphic artist for reminder cards to work! As long as the child with ASD understands the reminder card, it will be effective.

Q: How long should we use reminder cards?

A: As long as necessary! Some children may need the support of the reminder card for quite awhile; others may only need it for a short period. The key is to use this simple visual tool as long as it is necessary for the child.

Q: Will my child always require some sort of reminder card?

A: Quite possibly; again, it depends on the child. Think of all the "reminder card" type of things you use on a daily basis: grocery lists, notes, "to do" lists, a calendar, an organizer or day planner, even your checkbook register could be considered a "reminder card" because it reminds you to whom and where you have written checks! When you think about it, we all need reminder cards on a daily basis!
